What exactly is Nutrition?

Nutrition itself is the science of how food and its nutrients impact and inform the body’s functions at a biochemical and phsyiological level, influencing physical health, mental well-being, energy, and longevity. It explores how nutrients affect body systems and structures, including organs, muscles, and tissues, as well as their roles in cellular functions, metabolism, and body processes.

Nutrition impacts the function and health of virtually every system in our body! This includes our digestive system, immune system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, nervous system, skeletal system, muscular system, urinary system, and integumentary system (skin, hair, nails). This is why improved nutrition and optimal nutrient absorption through proper digestion has such a profound impact on our overall health, resilience, and quality of life.

Nutritional Therapy centers on the idea that health can be achieved through a holistic and bio-individual approach to nutrition and lifestyle. We believe that many of modern society’s health problems result from weaknesses in the body’s physiological foundations brought on by poor nutrition. Fewer than 15% of doctor appointments involve any kind of nutritional guidance, despite rising levels of chronic diseases and health issues linked to poor diet, digestive dysfunction, and nutrient deficiencies. Given this gap, Nutritional Therapy is emerging as an essential complimentary approach, offering personalized support to address these root causes and promote long-term health.

My Nutritional Therapy practice is based on the foundations of Nutritional Therapy. This includes but not limited to:

  • Whole Food, Nutrient-Dense Diet
I’ll guide you toward food that fuels and satisfies—no more battling cravings, restrictive diets, or guilt. We’ll focus on nourishing your body from the inside out, so you can eat confidently and feel great.

  • Optimizing Digestion & The GI Tract; “Testing Your Gut”
With our gastrointestinal tract, digestion, and gut being at the core of wellness, we’ll address:

    • Nutrient Absorption: Are you efficiently breaking down and absorbing proteins, fats, and essential vitamins and minerals?

    • Inflammation: Are there pathogens, bacterial overgrowths, or parasites indicating patterns of inflammation and imbalances?

    • Gut Microbiome: Is the diverse community of microbes in your gut thriving or struggling and is your immune system over or under responding?

    • Detoxification: Is your body's natural cleansing system functioning optimally?

  • Balancing Blood Sugar
Wave goodbye to afternoon slumps, mood swings, sugar cravings, and energy crashes. I will teach you the keys to maintaining stable blood sugar for more energy, better sleep, and balanced hormones.

  • Effective Hydration
It’s more than drinking water—discover the importance of electrolytes, and learn when, how, and why hydration matters for optimal health. No more reverse osmosis!

  • Minerals & Healthy Fats
Proper balance of minerals and essential fatty acids are foundational for immune health, energy, hormone balance, nerve function, tissue growth and repair, gut health and more.

  • Sleep and Stress Hygiene/Management
Achieve a balanced lifestyle by understanding the role of stress management, restful sleep, and self-care in sustaining wellness.

  • Comprehensive Lab Testing
